3rd       Singers’ night.   Resident Chris.

17th     BarlowCree: eagerly anticipated return of Liam and Johnny, acoustic duo from Wales, performing original material and creative adaptations of traditional and contemporary folk songs, all with a great sense of humour. Their new CD Broadsword will be available.   Resident Martin.

24th     Singers’ night.   Residents Karen and John.

31st      Singers’ night.   Resident Will.

SEPTEMBER

7th       Singers’ night.   Resident Chris.

14th     Marie Little: northern songbird with a big voice, warm personality and a natural northern wit to add to her charm. A choice of well chosen songs delivered in a relaxed manner making her an entertainer of the highest order.   Resident Phil.

21st     Singers’ night.   Resident Martin.

28th     Nothing to Prove: the resident band from The Woodman Folk Club popular at Folk Clubs and Festivals. Their great mixture of songs ranges from traditional to contemporary all played with enthusiasm and no mean ability. There will be ample opportunity to sing along.   Residents Karen and John.

OCTOBER

5th       Singers’ night.   Resident Will.

12th     The Deacons:  a popular folk group around Staffordshire and the West Midlands since the late 1970s. A variety of instruments accompany well known songs delivered with spontaneity and skill.   Resident Phil

19th       Singers’ night.   Resident Chris.

26th     Vicky Bull and The Ellen Venn Band, a half night each. Vicky is well known to us and will thrill with her powerful voice and talented musicianship. The Ellen Venn Band is a new Dave Rolfe ensemble which is sure to please. Look out for some familiar faces in the band.   Resident Martin.

The British Heart Foundation which plays a leading role in the fight against heart disease. We raised £330

Headway, a charity which works to improve life after brain injury, providing information, support and services to the sufferers and their families and carers We raised £281.

Midlands Air Ambulance: “Saving lives by saving time”. Ninety percent of the region is within reach within eight minutes and if a patient reaches hospital within the Golden Hour (60 minutes after their injury) their chances of survival are dramatically increased. It relies entirely on donations to keep its three air ambulances operational. We raised £300

We supported the following charities in 2014:

The British Heart Foundation which plays a leading role in the fight against heart disease. Thanks to the overwhelming support and generosity of members and friends we were delighted to donate £350 to this charity in memory of our former resident Colin Davies. We raised £350

Brewood Community First Responders, a group of volunteers who provide emergency first aid until the arrival of the ambulance. The scheme is a charitable organization and all running costs have to be covered by donations, local fund raising and sponsorship. We raised £300

Brewood Scouts Fundraisers raising funds to ensure the long-term survival of scouting in Brweood. We raised £230

The Mali Jenkins Home, Walsall. Supported in memory of Keith Mitchell, the home offers care to sufferers from Parkinson’s disease and looked after Keith at the end of his life. We raised £180.00.

Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of our friend Helen Hawthorne.  We raised £205

Brewood Scouts Fundraisers, a charity created to generate a relocation fund to enable the group to move its headquarters. We raised £180.00.

The Liver Foundation Trust Fund at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. We raised £230.00.

The Joshua Foundation which provides holidays and experiences for terminally ill children. We raised £170.00.

Our local First Responders, a group of volunteers who provide emergency first aid until the arrival of the ambulance. We raised £236.00.

The County Air Ambulance. A cheque for £211.00 was taken to our local base at RAF Cosford.

People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals.  We raised £150.00.
